Every -- and I mean "every" true Addict or Alcoholic who achieves long-term sobriety has their moment of clarity. For some it is very dramatic and a second of life-changing revelation. For others it is just a time when it became clear that "something" has to change, knowing that if nothing changes, nothing changes! 12-Steppers in Recovery have sort of, adopted this "phrase", as their own, however that's probably a leap that no one would want to make "legally". Regardless, in my personal experience, those who have had this experience, cherish it dearly! For most it's the result of wishing to change for quite some time, and a cumulative result. For those who depend significantly on the "Spiritual" realm, it seems that an epiphany, can, come much sooner than for those who don't have faith. But, there is no absolute evidence that Spirituality is a requirement to have that "moment of clarity"!
